I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter. Our Easter weekend started out with the girls, along with their friends Jordan,Mike and Jeff, baking Easter cookies and cupcakes, and coloring eggs. On Easter Sunday we had brunch at Mom and Dad's. Dianne had so much delicious food, and it was so much fun to hear how excited Sam, Beth, and Olivia were about the surprises the Easter Bunny brought them. Little Michael was so cute, he wanted to be a "big kid"and play cards with Sam and Olivia. We then went to New Hartford and had a delicious dinner with Tim's parents. We had a lot of fun sitting around the table talking and laughing. It was a perfect weekend!

American Idol

http://http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fz-pNrj_MHY

I am a huge American Idol fan this year. I think this year they have some of the best singers they have ever had, and it's going to be hard to pick the winner. However, this weeks contestant, Adam Lambert, gave the best performance I have ever seen on the show. Check out the link to Youtube and let me know what you think!

Wanted Dead or Alive Video and pictures...

I had some technical difficulties adding the video and pics of Amanda's winterguard to my last blog. The link at the top will take you to youtube where you can view Amanda's show.........

Wanted Dead or Alive...

Amanda's winterguard show this year was titled "Wanted Dead or Alive", and set to the music by Bon Jovi. The judges did not like the show at all, they prefer ballads that feature more dance. This show was fast paced, and featured more equipment work, not dance. Needless to say,the judges (who were the same judges week after week), never scored them very high. They even went as far to suggest they switch the music to an instrumental version of the song. C'mon, who wants to hear a slow, instrumental version of this song! This show was a crowd pleaser, it was different from all the other boring shows that we had to sit through, and the girls had a great time performing it. I give a lot of credit to the instructors for not caving in to their suggestions, and keeping the show the way it was. They traveled to Pittsburg in February for a regional competition, which was judged by a new group of judges, and they made it all the way to finals. I guess the judges in Pitt liked the show and appreciated that it was different from all the other shows that they had to judge. I guess it is true, if the judges don't like the show from the beginning, they will never like it. Amanda says this is her last year performing in the winterguard, she says she wants to try something else next year. I accept her decision, but I admit I feel sad, I love watching her perform! I'm sure her coaches and team mates will be sad that she is leaving. Her coaches told me that she is a great captain, and can really lighten the mood when practice isn't going so well with her quick wit and goofy sense of humor. If this is her last year, at least she got to perform in an awesome show!

The Hoods and SU

This time it was the Syracuse Orange entering the Sweet-16 NCAA tournament that gave us another excuse to have party! This one had a few extra people attending. Besides Dianne, Jake and Mike, Tim’s friend, Mark Hood paid us a visit from Florida last week. Accompanying him were his son Josh, daughter-in- law Nikki, and his beautiful granddaughter Maddie. Mark arrived in town on Thursday and treated us all to a dinner at the world famous Euclid restaurant, (Denim jeans and Timberland boots are welcomed!). Joking aside, the food is really good. Little Maddie sat in her car seat for over an hour and did not fuss at all. We had such a nice time moving from subject to subject which eventually ended in laughter. The next night, as Syracuse was playing in the Sweet 16, it gave us another opportunity to get together for pizza and wings. We were all decked out in our Syracuse Orange colors. Even though Syracuse did not advance to the Elite 8 :(, we had a lot of fun. Again Maddie was just perfect, I have yet to hear her cry. Unfortunately, Mark had to leave the next day, his visit this time was too short. Hopefully his next visit will be longer, and hopefully Syracuse will advance farther in the tournament next year so we can have more parties!

Angela's Scholastic Art Award

A few weeks ago,we received in the mail an invitation to the high school to view student's art pieces that had been entered in the Scholastic Art competition. I knew that Angela had been working on a clay pot in art class, but I really didn't know if her's was submitted in the contest. As Thursday's nights were the one night of the week that the girls did not have any activities, I was not really planning on attending. Luckily, her art teacher called me and informed me that, yes her piece had been submitted, and she was going to receive a certificate. Her piece would also be in a slide show that featured every participants piece, and their individual art teacher would be commenting on the student and their art work. Her art teacher had some really nice comments about Angela. I never knew she was such an accomplished artist, she for sure did not get that gene from me. She has decided to continue in art to fulfill her fine arts credit in high school. We are so proud of her and her artistic abilities!
